We believe the bird is a cooper hawk. The bird looks beautiful but make other birds such as cardinals and bluebirds scattered.
It is a circle of life in the nature, sad to know about this matter. However, the predators need to eat.
What we can do that Keep small pets out of their way, even though the cooper hawks will not attack pets if not hungry.
The cooper hawk has several distinct characters:
- biggish head
- lighter nape of neck
- and rounded tail
Do you know about a Cooper hawk?

This is really a magnificent bird of prey!
ReplyDeleteWhere I live there are mainly kestrels and buzzards - and I always hope that they let the songbirds live and prefer field mice 😉...

We have a bunch of hawks around here but I haven't seen one like this. They definitely scare away the birds and squirrels.

Awesome to know about this one. We have them here. And they seem to have their domain, even in the city.

This hawk looks like it is pretty big in size. We do have a lot of hawks, especially at the farm where the irrigation is going constantly. I don't really know the difference in the different kinds...would be something good for me to learn.

Its a beautiful bird of prey but its not in the area where I live. See them sometimes along a state highway sitting in tree or on a pole.
