Actually, “the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)” has included Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) since July, 2022.

Sadly, no follow up, and this butterfly has not been protected by federal agency called as “Endangered Species Act (ESA),” established in 1973.

Good news, as reported by California State Parks Foundation (2022: The Monarch Butterfly’s Path to Federal Protection) that the Monarch butterfly is in the process to get Endangered Species Act (ESA).

  5. I think monarchs butterfly has another name in my country.
It seems that such monarch butterfly is able to interpret the sun's position in the sky. And this help them to fly from the northern United States, through Texas, and into South Mexico region. Nice post, Tanza 🦋

    Have a nice Sunday ☀️

  9. I love these beautiful butterflies! They usually come late in the summer. I'm not sure of their protection but they along with many other species should be on the list. Happy Memorial Day!

  14. We see a lot of butterflies here but not as many monarchs as the other types. We have lots of wildflowers that bloom year round so butterflies are always in our state.
