We talked about a Jersey Giant variation of roosters at the previous posting:

Fig 01- A little red silkie chicken

Recently, I saw a little critter when I was jogging on the way to the one of our neighborhood lakes.

The critter is a kind of new variation of chickens. Its physical shape is quite strange for me, and the first time to see it.

By searching through internet, I believe that it is a red silkie chicken. One of a rare variation.

Marco Polo reported this chicken for the first time when he traveled to Asia continent around 13th century.

Many people believe that the red silkie chicken highly probably originated from these countries:

- China

- Japan

- India

Some people said this chicken is a good pet, since they are friendly and unique.

Have you seen this variation of chicken in your place?

  3. These days, a lot of people in the neighborhood have chickens for eggs. That's nice to have. When I was a kid the neighbor had a hen who wouldn't get out of the garage, but that hen must have laid and least 4 eggs every morning so she didn't complain.

  4. Interesting to see where the chicken comes from. So it was from Asia where Polo saw his first Chicken. This animal has certainly survived over the ages. Of course, you can still find cock fighting in a lot of places too.
