Hundred millions people across America have experienced “deadly” snow storm. Temperature below zero Celsius degree during second week of February 2021.
Almost all southern states to brace more icy and frigid temperature than normal February each year, the states include:
- Texas
- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- Alabama.
Our city, Baton Rouge, temperature reached -8 C (18 F) degree. This is our first time experienced to face lower temperature in the Southern state.
The storm caused several problems in our neighborhood and city:
- power outage
- no water supply
- roads block
- grocery stores are closed
Many our neighbors have no electricity more than 50 hours since Monday, 15 February 2021.
No signs of light until Wednesday afternoon, 17 February 2021. We don’t know until when.
Few neighbors had to leave because it was too cold inside and they don’t have a fire place inside their houses.
Since our neighborhoods have different grids, we and several neighbors are lucky to have light and water supply during snow storms and until today.
How about with your cities? Have your cities snow storm?
We had some rolling blackouts here in Nebraska to help with the grid in TEXAS. And it could happen again. We have been having negative numbers close to -25, but we are up to 16 today and maybe closer to 30 by the weekend. Our power wasn't off too long. At first they said it won't happen again, but then on the news they said it could happen.
ReplyDeleteIt has definitely been a hard winter.

Hope you guys are doing OK and it warms up soon, but then again if it warms too soon there might be some flooding too. We live on the Missouri and we had a dry winter a couple of years ago, but come March there was a sudden melt down and so many lost their homes.

So sorry to hear about your neighborhood. It has been a rough winter so far! We had 36" 0f snow and ice last week with lots of wind and more started early this AM. We are to get 8" more into tomorrow. Fortunately, we have not lost any power so we will keep our fingers crossed. The town is shut down and all stores are closed! Keep safe!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your neighborhood :(
ReplyDeleteThank you for your concerns...

We have had a lot of ice this year, and a couple of snow falls in the 5 inch range. I have a friend in Baton Rouge and he reported how cold it was this week and I was shocked!

I live in Indiana and we got about 1 foot of snow last Monday. However, I was in Louisiana then and it really was very cold there. It's horrible the weather you all are facing right now.
